The presentations were made at our St Andrews concert on Saturday evening and the winners are.......
The Bill Tansley Memorial Cup is voted for by the Training Band players, well done Scott you've made stunning progress.
The Owen Harden Cup won and richly deserved by Sam Smith for all his hard work in and out of the band room.
The Presidents Trophy this year awarded to John and Ann Clark. The rock of our bass section has had to retire from playing although he misses it terribly. Ann has cared for our music library during every rehearsal and her tea and biscuits are legendary. We thank you both for your tremendous support and love for the band and each other.
Great to see our President, Jim Pullan, at tonights rehearsal. Jim had some very encouraging words and news for the band. Many thanks to Jim, Mary, Richard and everyone at Kingsway Printers for the tremendous support they have given us.
This weekend the band played carols and Christmas selections to entertain the crowds in Humberston and New Waltham. The children sang and recalled the Christmas Story, the band played and the lights went on! Happy Christmas everyone.
It was with heavy hearts that band members attended the funeral today of our friend Barry Mathews. Barry had a long association with Cleethorpes Band, he played tenor horn and went on to conduct the band for many years. Our deepest sympathies to Margaret, John and Andrew.
A really early start was needed to get the band by coach to Loughborough. Unfortunately the coach broke down on the motorway hard shoulder and we arrived only just in time to run to the stage, no time to warm up or even register! After all the difficulties of the day the band played to a a very creditable 5th place.
